Escapee from Holmes-Humphreys County/Regional Correctional Facility Captured

Jackson – State inmate Robert Cockrell, MDOC #81378, who on Friday escaped from the Holmes-Humphreys County/Regional Correctional Facility in Lexington, has been captured in Marshall, Texas.

Authorities had been searching for Cockrell who is serving a 17-year sentence from Desoto County for Cocaine Possession, Felon with a Weapon, and Grand Larceny.

Cockrell was in a vehicle which was stopped on a routine traffic violation at approximately 6:15 p.m today on Interstate 20 in Marshall.  A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested Cockrell without incident, and he is currently being held in the Harrison County Texas jail awaiting extradition to Mississippi.  Cockrell now faces an additional five year sentence if convicted of escape.
