Two MDOC Escapees Captured in Florida

Jackson - Simpson County Community Work Center inmates WILLIAM KING CAISON, MDOC #122675 and SHAWN PAUL MEEK, MDOC #133009, who had escaped from a work detail Friday, have been captured in Santa Rose County, Florida. The two were on a work detail in Smith County, Mississippi when they took a work van.

Inmates Shawn Meek and William Caison were apprehended in Santa Rosa County, FL at approximately 10:50 p.m. Friday night.  A concerned citizen called law enforcement after spotting the work van stuck in the sand near a bar on the beach. The concerned citizen pointed the two out to local sheriff's deputies, who took them into custody without incident. Caison and Meed are being held for Mississippi authorities and each now face an additional 5 year sentence if convicted of escape.
