The Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) Division of Administration and Finance is  headed Deputy Commissioner  Rick McCarty  and is responsible for the following agency functions:  

 

 

Human Resources
Policy, Planning, Research and Evaluation
Management Information Systems
Budgeting
Fiscal Comptroller
Procurement, Property and Warehousing

MDOC is appropriated funds each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) by the Mississippi Legislature.   The annual appropriation includes funds for salaries, travel, contractual services, commodities,  and payments to county jails, regional facilities and private prisons for housing of state inmates. The Committee for Performance, Expenditure, Evaluation, and Review (PEER) annually calculates a cost per inmate day for the three state operated prisons. The composite average daily cost per inmate for FY 2010 was $39.56.
