Jackson – The Mississippi Department of
Corrections (MDOC) today announced the deaths of two state inmates.
State inmate John Richard Pruitt
#31503, a 49 year-old white male, was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. at the Field
Memorial Hospital in Centerville on Thursday, September 5. According to a
Provisional Report of Autopsy, Pruitt died as a result of sudden cardiac death.
Pruitt was serving a life sentence for homicide from Harrison County, Miss.
State inmate Darlene Bruno #90842, a
63 year-old white female, was pronounced dead at 11:22 p.m. at the Mississippi
State Penitentiary Hospital in Parchman on Sunday, September 8. According to a
Provisional Report of Autopsy, Bruno died as a result of gastro-intestinal
hemorrhaging. Bruno was sentenced from Pike County, Miss., and was serving 12
years concurrently on five counts of possession and sell of cocaine.
Autopsies will be performed on both offenders in accordance with state law to
determine their cause of death.
